Description and composition
Froben Gel is presented as a clear gel containing
flurbiprofen 5% w/w in a gel vehicle.
Indications
Froben Gel is a topical analgesic anti-inflammtory
preparation for the relief of acute and chronic
musculoskeletal disorders including juvenile arthritis and
still's disease characterised by pain and inflammation
such as articular and non-articular rheumatic disorders
and soft- tissue injuries. These conditions include
backache, muscular pain, bursitis, tendinitis,
tenosynovitis, fibrositis, fascitis, periarthritis, capsulitis
and other enthesopathies, sprains, strains and
contusions.
Dosage and administration
Froben Gel is for external use only.
Adults:
Apply 1 - 2 g (1-2 cm long strand) of Froben Gel over the
affected area and massage it gently, 2-3time daily or, as
advised by the physician.
Froben Gel is not indicated for use in children under
12 years of age.
Contra-indications, warnings, side -effects, etc.
Froben Gel is contra-indicated in patients with previously
demonstrated hypersensitivity to flurbiprofen or other
creams/gels. Froben Gel should not be applied to patients
with a history of asthma or to patients who have
experienced bronchospasm, anaphylactic reactions,
angioedema or any other hypersensitivity-type reactions
from use of aspirin or other NSAIDs. Caution is necessary
if given to patients with non-allergic asthma. Froben
Gel should not be applied to the eyes or mucous
membranes. Also it should not be applied to abnormal or broken skin or to sites affected by dermatoses or
infection.
Side-effects:
Froben Gel is usually well tolerated. Occasionally, local
itching and redness at the application site may occur. If
local irritation develops, treatment with Froben Gel should
be discontinued and appropriate therapy instituted.
Use during pregnancy and lactation:
Safety for use during pregnancy and lactation has not
been established.
Drug interactions:
None known via the topical use.
Overdosage:
There is no specific antidote of flurbiprofen.
Overdosage is unlikely to occur with the topical
formulation.
Storage
Protect from heat & light.
